about us

Established in 2012, NSA Group recognized the growing demand among organizations to enhance their employee screening and background checking procedures, both during the hiring process and for existing staff. 

Formed from the security screening divisions of Hantec Systems, External Quality Management Ltd and Sanctis together with Veriteq Systems and National Security Screening Agency, NSA group Limited is the only organisation in the UK currently holding NSI Gold certification for security screening and SSAIB Approval for security screening. 

We started in the tenant referencing market producing systems for 3 of the top 5 providers and in 2012 we entered the HR screening market. Today we have expanded our portfolio of services to include customisable API solutions for companies, along with applications and services for Employment Screening.

A partner of choice for companies seeking innovative, reliable Verification Solutions, we utilise our technical knowledge along with our deep understanding of industry processes, to build solutions and processes that work the way you need them to, not the other way around. Mark Ker-Lindsay
Managing Director

Mark founded the company in 2012 having identified a gap in the market. This philosophy has continued throughout the growth of the company, remaining at its core today, and over the ensuing years the portfolio of solutions has been expanded to other industries which can benefit from robust screening and verification solutions. With over 25 years’ experience and with a deep understanding of client needs within the industry Mark drives the strategic direction of the company.

Mike Palmer

Chief Technical Officer

With a rich background as a Senior Executive, he has played a pivotal role in various digital transformation initiatives, adept at navigating complex challenges and formulating strategies to improve efficiency, drive growth, and boost performance. Mikes leadership style is deeply collaborative, focused on closely partnering with clients to realize their goals while enhancing team productivity and emphasizing robust risk management.

Jason Brown

Chief Commercial Officer

Jason joined the group in 2023 as Chief Commercial Officer and brings with him a wealth of screening and vetting knowledge. Having worked in the industry for over 14 years, he is highly skilled in developing the right action plan for each of his client’s unique needs and committed to helping them choose the best financial solution. Throughout his career,  has earned the trust of several national and international companies and maintained strong client relationships.

Peter Silver

Legal Counsel

Having practised as a Barrister and later as a Solicitor dealing with often complex White Collar Crime and other serious offences, and other related fields, he is ideally suited to advise as General Counsel and head of our Legal and Compliance Departments.

NSI Gold Approval/ISO9001 Certification

Pre-employment checks are important in all industries, none more so than the fire and security industry. Companies that use our services are reassured to know that we have obtained the highest certification level that can be achieved for these services – namely NSI Gold Certification. This certification not only covers the company’s security screening activities but also assures clients that the company’s quality management system is fully compliant with ISO 9001 – an internationally recognised mark of quality.

SSAIB Approval
When the SSAIB adopted it’s scheme to approve organisations that carry out security screening. National Security Screening Agency was the first to have earned this high accolade.

We are also regulated by the SSAIB and during audit inspections they are given access to our screening files to ensure that we are carrying out screening in accordance with BS7858.

Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) Umbrella Body

NSA Group acts as an intermediary between the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and other organizations or employers. The Disclosure and Barring Service is a UK government agency that provides criminal record checks and helps employers make safer recruitment decisions by identifying individuals who may pose a risk to vulnerable groups.

ISO/IEC 9001 is an international standard for quality management systems (QMS) published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). ISO 9001 provides a framework for organizations to establish, implement, maintain, and continually improve a quality management system. 

ISO/IEC 27001:2022

ISO/IEC 27001 is an international standard for information security management systems (ISMS).  ISO 27001 provides a systematic approach to managing sensitive company information, ensuring its confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

ISO/IEC 14001:2015

ISO/IEC 14001, is a standard with a set of requirements to help organisations create an effective Environmental Management System (EMS), allowing them to benchmark their current environmental performance.

Cyber Essentials Certified

Cyber Essentials is a cybersecurity certification program developed by the UK government to help organizations, both in the public and private sectors, enhance their cybersecurity posture. The program is designed to provide a basic level of cybersecurity assurance and to help organizations implement fundamental cybersecurity best practices. 

ICO Registered

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is an independent authority in the United Kingdom that promotes and enforces the principles of data protection. Its primary role is to uphold information rights, ensuring that individuals’ personal data is handled and processed appropriately by organizations.

Regulated by 

The FCA regulates financial firms and markets to maintain the integrity of the financial system. This includes overseeing banks, insurance companies, investment firms, and other financial institutions. FCA is to protect consumers by ensuring that financial products and services are fair, transparent, and meet the needs of customers. The FCA aims to promote competition that benefits consumers.
