Can I see an update on my check and know when its complete?

Yes, you can sign into your application and see a progress update, your employer will inform you when your checks are complete.

Is my data safe with NSA group?

NSA Group have been Certified to ISO/IEC 27001

This demonstrates we are committed and able to manage information securely and safely. Holding this certificate bring an additional layer of confidence, as an accreditation an independent body audits NSA group and confirmation of competence is issued in the way of this certification. 

I have a support query on my application, what can I do?

We offer a support solution for all applications, please email screening@nsagroup.co.uk with your query.

How will you contact me?

We will contact you via telephone initially with an introduction call, followed up with an email.

Can I upload documents to my form?

Yes, uploading documents to your application form is recommended and can be done securely and instantly.

What if I have Employment Gaps

If you have any gaps of over 31 days in the past 3 years activity history, you must supply bank statements to show movement of money. This is the easiest way of confirming the gaps in your employment. 

Additional Documentation per activity type (2 different types of documentation per employment)  

 If you were employed: 
  • Employment contract showing your start date.
  • An official letter from the employer showing your start date.
  • Copies of your first and last payslips
  • An official confirmation of long service letter or document showing your start date.
  • Redundancy or termination letter showing the date your employment ended.
  • An official letter from the employer showing the date your employment ended.
  • P45 or P60 for each year of service
 If you were self-employed: 
  • Letters or documents from HMRC and/or Companies House
  • Letters or documents concerning the forming or dissolving of the company from banks, solicitors, or accountants.
  • Tax return for each year you were self-employed.
If you were sub-contracting, client reference(s) to cover the period. 
  • P45 for the period
 If you were in education 
  • Enrolment email/letter
  • Statement of results
  • Qualification certificates
  • Official letters showing dates of study – start, end, or both.
If you were travelling 
  • Official immigration documents i.e., visas, applications for residency/visas or the right to work.
  • Passport stamps showing the dates you entered and/or left the countries visited.
  • Any other official government letters or documents, which confirm the dates you entered and/or left the countries visited.
  • Email confirmation of purchasing tickets/travel documents
  • Bank statements to show transactions in the countries visited.
  • Travel tickets and accommodation receipts
  • Mobile phone bill showing calls from the countries you visited.
If you relocated to the UK within the last 5 years 
  • Official immigration documents i.e., visas/Home office payment cards etc.
  • Official immigration letters i.e., applications for residency/visas or the right to work.
  • Passport stamps showing the dates you entered and/or left the country.
  • Any other official government letters or documents which confirm the dates you entered and/or left the country.
  • Any employment references, contracts or tax records for the country you were living in.
If you were in HM Forces Service including Reserves 
  • Certificate of Service
  • Discharge Certificate
  • Statement of Service
  • P45
If you were registered Unemployed (Claiming Benefits – dates of claim must be on the document) 
  • Proof of claim letter
  • Letter of entitlement
  • Official HMRC or DWP letters or documents
  • P45 for the period you claimed.
  • Universal Credit payment summary page from Online Portal
If you had a Career Break (not working/claiming or any of the above activities for more than 31 days) 
  • Official HMRC or DWP letters or documents i.e., maternity payments, child benefit etc.
  • Official immigration letters or documents i.e., applications for residency/asylum or the right to work.
  • Bank statements for the period showing how you financially supported yourself and that you were not receiving a regular income.
How long will my check take?

This depends on the level of check that has been requested by your employer, our team will give you an estimate on your welcome call.

Can I get a copy of my background report?

Please contact your employer and request this directly from them, we are unable to provide this information to you.

Why are you checking my background?

Your employer may need review your criminal record history, employment history and much more to help them evaluate your honesty, character, safety, and qualifications.

Will you contact my current employer?

We will never contact your current employer without your permission first. This question is asked on your application form.

What if I cannot remember by previous employers?

You could look at past HMRC tax records or payslips or revert to a CV or LinkedIn.

What is an acceptable proof of Identification documents?
  • Valid UK Passport
  • Valid International Passport
  • Valid Driver’s Licence Photo ID
What is an acceptable proof of address documents?
  • Bank Statement (Less than 3 months old)
  • Council Tax Bill (Less than 12 months old)
  • Any Inland Revenue Document (Less than 3 months old)
  • P45 or P60 (Less than 12 months Old)
  • Mortgage Statement (Less than 12 months old)
  • Utility Bills – Not a mobile phone bill (Less than 3 months old)
  • Pension or Benefit Statement (Less than 3 months old)
